Chiropractic is the only profession which specializes in identifying, locating, and treating nerve interference and subluxation. Back to Life Chiropractic combines these specialties with soft tissue release techniques that make the chiropractic adjustment go easier and last longer.
Subluxation is a misalignment of one or more vertebral bodies (vertebrae). This misalignment may go undetected for years, when “suddenly” something happens that causes pain, limits range of motion, or produces abnormal sensations (paresthesia). Similar to a misalignment on a car, the misalignment may be there for 10,000 or more miles before the wear pattern is noticeable on the tire tread, or the tire starts to tremble or pull to one side. Chiropractors adjust vertebral misalignment. To make the alignment on a car go more easier and last longer, a mechanic uses the right tools to loosen the bolts that hold the suspension system in place before they correct the misalignment, and after they have made the alignment correction they re-tighten the bolts before the car is put on the road and stressed. Similarly, soft tissue manipulation loosens the muscles (bolts) holding your vertebrae together before the adjustment, and after the adjustment. It is essential to relax or strengthen these appropriate muscles to tighten the bolts again through stretching and exercises before you take your body out for a spin. Unlike a car and its alignment, the human body takes time to loosen these muscles, correct subluxation, relax, and strengthen the muscles to hold the alignment correction; however, the addition of soft tissue manipulation combined with chiropractic will speed your recovery and accelerate your return to health.
